George M. Dougherty is a senior military leader, scientist, and business strategist. In his service as an active duty and reserve officer, he held the second-highest military position in U.S. Air Force science and technology. He is co-author of the Air Force’s current science and technology strategy, which established a renewed focus on transformational capabilities. He led technical programs and units, and helped develop cutting-edge systems including the F-22 stealth fighter. In his civilian career, he has served as an executive in two international management consulting firms, helping the senior leaders of Fortune 500 corporations and high-growth technology and life sciences companies to navigate strategic change in their industries. Dougherty holds a BS and MS in engineering from the University of Virginia, a PhD in materials science and engineering from the University of California-Berkeley, and an MBA from Cornell University. He lives in the Washington, DC area with his wife, a biomedical scientist.
